Classification
On the basis of the subjects that are photographed, photographers are classified
into various types. Some people may be photographers of landscapes, some of
still life while others of portraiture. A landscape photographer takes the
photographs of the visible features of a section of land. This includes physical
elements like landforms, human elements like human activity or built
environment, abstract elements like lightning and climate conditions and living
elements like flora and fauna. A still life photographer takes photographs of
works of art that portray inanimate matter. This has objects that may be man
made (like pipes, cigarettes, drinking glasses etc) or natural (rocks, plants,
food etc) in an artificial environment. A portraiture photographer takes those
photographs where the face and the expression on it are the major part. The
objective of this photographer is to demonstrate the personality or mood of the
person.

This gives rise to commercial photographers, wedding photographers, fashion
photographers, documentary photographers and street photographers. Wedding
photographers take photographs that are related to wedding and related
ceremonies. Fashion photographers take photographs for fashion magazines and
advertisements. These aim to demonstrate clothes and other fashion items.
Documentary photographers are related to professional photojournalism. The
intention is to give rise to true, impartial and frank photography of any
subject and particularly pictures of people. These photographs portray a view of
the photographer. Street photographers are a type of documentary photographers.
The photographs are taken in public places like malls, beaches, political
conventions, parks and streets.
Commercial photographer
Commercial photographers have a wide range of services. Food photography is used
for advertising, packaging and editorial use. Crime scene photography includes
taking photographs of murders or robberies. Still life photography shows
inanimate subject matter. In Fashion and Glamour photography is related to

advertising photography in which photographs depict and generally sell a product
or service. The other aspects of commercial photography are photo sharing,
pornography, wildlife photography, landscape photography, fine art photography
and photojournalism.
Ethnographic photographer
An ethnographic photographer utilizes fieldwork to offer a descriptive study of
the societies of human beings. In Ethnography, the results of a holistic
research method are established on the base that the properties of a system need
not necessarily be precisely make known independent of each other. This genre
has historical and formal connections regarding colonial office reports and
travel writing. Several cultural anthropologists regard ethnography as the gist
of their field.
