Wedding programs and invitations on Oahu and Hawaii

Among the many decisions you’ll have to make regarding your wedding, one that brides and grooms seem to go back and forth on is the need for a wedding program. There are certainly reasons why you don’t need one. They do add expense to your wedding day budget, even if you plan to create them yourself. A commitment of time is required, especially if you want to do little booklet type of programs that are going to require assembly and stapling.
On the other hand, having a wedding program can provide many things to your wedding guests. It is a less expensive wedding keepsake than many you will find or create yourself. It gives guests a score card of sorts to let them know who your bridesmaids are, what your parents names are, who the officiant is, who it is that is providing your ceremony music, and other information they may need. The biggest advantage to the wedding programs is that with some types of programs, it allows your guests to follow along with the service itself. This can be a tremendous help to guests who are not familiar with what behaviors are appropriate at what times. A Catholic ceremony, for example, is going to be a completely foreign experience for some guests who are not Catholic. Having a program that indicates when your guests should kneel, stand, or sit, plus an explanation of receiving Communion is going to be a huge help to some of your guests.
Wedding programs can be very simple, designed on your home computer, printed on regular printer paper. You can add a paper cover, sold in most religious articles stores, or you can add your own cardstock cover. Once these are printed, if they are multi-paged, they do require assembly, and a stapler with a long arm is a big help.
Some wedding programs are a simple one 5x7 card stock printed page. They provide only the names of the couple, the wedding party, the parents, and the officiant. A more elaborate program will provide step by step the entire ceremony, including lyrics to any songs or hymns, the words to prayers and readings, and even a note of thanks from the bride and groom to their guests.
It really doesn’t add a tremendous amount to your wedding budget to include some sort of program. Most people like having them, and it can be a help for so many at your
wedding ceremony.
